Old County Offices & the old Courthouse
We must preserve our Courthouse - the lawn and trees need attention! Perhaps a collaborative agreement with the county, if they won't sell to us. Would make a great local artist showcase/gallery!.
As for the old county office building - at the very least, give it a frontier-look face lift....
501 Main Street
Use a portion of the old county building as a public community center equipped with a commercial kitchen that could be rented to residents and local businesses for special events, especially during the winter months.
Bordering residential areas
Signage telling people they are leaving the business district and entering residential areas. The quality of life in the areas bordering the business district must be preserved. The signage could say something to the effect, "Entering residential area, please respect our privacy....
county building
Reuse planning should include; space for creative arts like, visual arts and crafts, film and media, storytelling, art ,digital works. Incubator business. Visitor center, maybe even a local radio station place.
old court house
The county owned old court house and grounds are iconic to the history of the county but the town. The town should consider purchasing that property from the county.
Front Street revamp
Old style lamp post like Main Street. Sidewalks and curbs. We contributed years ago and nothing happened.
Embrace the historical look and feel
Have buildings painted to have a common look and feel - make it like a connected appearance.
County building
Either replace or renovate the old county building into and indoor market place with some dining with outdoor access for dining and activities like horseshoes/kids area/beer garden, and then “stalls” that and be rented by local crafts people to display and sell their goods....
